We at B&H Photo Video are pleased to introduce the latest members of the Canon Cinema EOS system, the C200 and the C200B. Designed to provide high-quality digital imaging at affordable prices, the C200/200B cameras can record 4K RAW internally to a CFast 2.0 card using Canon’s storage-friendly Cinema RAW Light format. Like its predecessor, the C100 Mk II, the C200/C200B features Dual Pixel CMOS Auto Focus, compatibility with Canon EF-mount lenses, and the ability to record at a variety of frame rates and resolutions. For those shooters who prefer a more stripped-down unit, the EOS C200B model consists of the camera body only, without an EVF, but with the LV-V1 4″ touchscreen LCD monitor, tool-less top handle and rosette-based handgrip, available for purchase separately. With an EF lens mount, this latest EOS camera is compatible with the full range of Canon EF-mount lenses, enabling the use of any Canon lenses already in your kit. For a more complete package, the C200 is also available in a kit including the Canon f/4 25-105 II zoom lens.

Extremely specialized and extremely interesting, Nikon’s latest fisheye, the 8-15mm, offers users the ability to adjust focal length quickly to match certain compositions, as well as deliver both 180° circular images at 8mm or full-frame coverage when zoomed in. It also uses ED glass to minimize chromatic aberrations and reduce color fringing, and it has a Nano Crystal Coat to combat flare and ghosting. On top of this, it has the latest E-type electromagnetic diaphragm for added exposure consistency during continuous shooting.

PocketWizard Updates the FlexTT6 for Latest Canon Cameras

Author: admin  |  Category: Best Photo Sharing, Digital Cameras

Compatibility is the key for the FlexTT6 from PocketWizard, because this iteration of the popular remote trigger has been improved to support the latest Canon E-TTL / E-TTL II protocols from the 5D Mark IV, 1D X Mark II—and even future releases, through firmware updates. The FlexTT6 also provides outstanding support for existing PocketWizard radios, since it works with nearly every unit that operates on the 340-354 MHz frequency, including the previous FlexTT5. This model is specific for newer cameras and Speedlites from Canon, for which it is required, but users can trigger a FlexTT6 from a FlexTT5 if so desired.

It retains many of the excellent features of its predecessor, namely ControlTL, which enables all the TTL functionality of the unit. This includes automatic changes, manual power control, and support for high-speed sync. Also, the FlexTT6 supports PocketWizard’s HyperSync technology for achieving higher sync speeds with strobes and flashes that don’t support dedicated HSS protocols. Additionally, it has two 3.5mm sync ports for triggering remote cameras or strobes.

Recommended Lenses for Shooting the Solar Eclipse on Any Budget

What is the best lens focal length for photographing the total solar eclipse? Well, there really isn’t a correct answer to that question. There are many factors involved, so let’s outline some options for different types of cameras and budgets.

Size of the Sun

Most of us think the sun is huge in the daytime sky. Even when masked by clouds, those days we can see the ball of the sun through a thin layer of clouds, the sun looks large. But even though the sun is 864,000 miles across (109 times the size of Earth), the fact that it is approximately 93 million miles away means that it appears to be almost the same size as the Moon in our skies.

If you do not believe me, just think about the solar eclipses you have seen photographed in the past. You will see how the moon, during an eclipse, at or near its closest approach to Earth (perigee), blocks out the entire sun. (When the moon is farther from Earth [apogee], the result is a partial blockage of the sun during what is called an annular solar eclipse.) The relative sizes of the sun and moon, and their relative distances from Earth, are what make eclipses so cool for those of us on Earth.

So, the sun is moon-sized in the daytime sky. Got it. But, wait! There’s more.

During the totality portion of a solar eclipse, when the umbral shadow passes over the observer on Earth, the sun’s corona, usually invisible to the naked eye, is suddenly visible and it extends well away from the surface of the sun. So now, the sun and its usually invisible corona are larger than the sun alone.

Art Wolfe’s Intimate Landscapes

Art Wolfe is one of the world’s best-known nature and wildlife photographers. Yet, while his images are published in more than 80 books and featured in a globally syndicated television show, Wolfe has never defined himself solely through these specialty subjects. “I was trained in a fine art school, and developed an early interest in everything from the antiquity of Europe to modern cityscapes to photographing people,” he says.

In many of Wolfe’s books and projects, he seeks to broaden people’s understanding of arts and culture. Dual degrees in painting and art education gave him a strong foundation for translating his worldwide adventures into images, while also making him uniquely qualified to engage people in visual literacy and in training them how to see.

With these pursuits, Wolfe often shifts his focus from documenting the world on a grand scale to exploring the realm of intimate space—a world that is more a function of one’s imagination. “What I truly like to do is get in close, and I’ve done that ever since I’ve picked up a camera,” he says.

Over time, he has explored different close-up techniques—assisted by a range of macro gear—to open people’s eyes to new ways of experiencing the world around them.
